Leaves: basal leaves narrowly-oval, not tapering to the stalk, more than 1 1/2 times as long as wide with blunt teeth; stem leaves getting smaller toward the top and sometimes clasping
Flowers: head 1/2"-1" wide with 0, 8 or 13 yellow rays more than 1/4" long; bracts (phyllaries) light green; inflorescence clusters of several to many heads; blooms May-July
Fruits: dry seed on fluffy pappus
