Etymology: Rumex: the ancient Latin name for the docks or sorrels
Plants: erect, perennial, 4"-16" tall forb, overall reddish-brown; with thin, creeping roots forming large patches
Leaves: usually 3-lobed, end lobe elliptical to oblong, other 2 triangular and smaller; acidic taste
Flowers: orange or pink to yellowish, 6-parted, stalk jointed next to the flower; inflorescence loose, conical, branched clusters about half the length of the entire plant; blooms May-Aug.
Fruits: golden brown, shiny, dry seed
Habitat: fields, lawns, disturbed areas; in acidic soil
Hazardous: Careful, this plant is hazardous!
Invasiveness: Invasive - Eradicate!
Conservation Status: Introduced - naturalized; ecologically invasive
