Etymology: Raphanus: from the Greek raphanos for "quick-appearing" because of the rapid germination of the seeds
Plants: annual, 12"-24" tall forb, coarse; a stout taproot
Leaves: lower leaves oblong, pinnately-divided with the largest segment at the end; upper leaves small
Flowers: yellow to white, 4-parted; inflorescence a cluster (raceme) of stalked flowers; blooms June-Aug.
Fruits: cylindrical pod ribbed and dented between the seeds when dry
Habitat: disturbed areas
Hazardous: Careful, this plant is hazardous!
Conservation Status: Introduced - naturalized
