Leaves: closely-spaced, scattered, some alternate, short-stalked; finely, pinnately-divided into less than 14 pairs of leaflets
Flowers: 4-parted, with winter buds
Fruits: 4-parted nutlet divided by 2 bumpy ridges
Habitat: shallows, water to 7' deep; in fine sediment soil
