Plants: erect, perennial, 12"-40" tall forb
Leaves: many, widely elliptical to oblong, sharply pointed
Flowers: green, 5-parted, 1/5" long, petals turning upward at the tip, lower one the widest; inflorescence of one to a few drooping flowers from the leaf axils; blooms May-June
Fruits: capsule
Habitat: moist; woods, ravines; in rich soil
