Etymology: Goodyera: for John Goodyer (1592-1664)
Plants: erect, perennial, 5"-12" tall forb; stems single with 3-5 leaf-like bracts
Leaves: basal, mostly 3/4" - 2" long with white netting
Flowers: 6-parted, 1/4"- 1/2" wide, beak of lip half or more as long as the body of the flower;
inflorescence a dense to loose spiral of stalked flowers along a 6"-14" spike-like cluster (raceme); blooms July-Aug.
Habitat: dry; woods, forests; in rich soil
Conservation Status: Native
