Etymology: Gentianopsis: resembling or having the form of Gentian
Plants: erect, annual/biennial, 12"-32" tall forb, often branched near the top
Leaves: stalkless, 3/8"-3/4" wide, upper leaves lance-shaped with wide, rounded bases
Flowers: blue, 4-parted, 1 1/2"-2" wide, funnel-shaped, petals densely fringed, with no folds between; solitary on long stalks; blooms Aug.-Oct.
Habitat: moist; meadows, woods, streambanks
Conservation Status: Native
