Etymology: Galinsoga: after Mariano Martinez Galinsoga, 18th century Spanish doctor in Madrid
Plants: erect, annual, 8"-28" tall, hairy forb with many branches
Leaves: oval with a pointed tip, coarsely toothed
Flowers: head 1/4"-1/2" wide with usually with 5 short, 3-toothed, white rays; inflorescence with several heads in branched clusters; blooms June-Oct.
Fruits: black, dry seed with fluffy pappus
Habitat: disturbed sites such as gardens and greenhouses
Conservation Status: Introduced - naturalized
