Riverbanks, sloughs, lakeshores, streambanks, mudflats, sedge meadows, waste areas and dumps, along roadsides and railroads, gravel areas, gardens, fields. This is a native species of open, wet habitats and like E. pectinacea it has spread to anthropogenic areas, but it is not nearly as common. Eragrostis frankii is scattered across the southern third of the state.
