Etymology: Drosera: Greek droseros for "dewy" referring to clear glutinous fluid on leaves
Plants: erect, perennial, 2"-8" tall, reddish, insectivorous forb
Leaves: mostly in a basal rosette, stalked, roundish, wider than long, much shorter than the stalks, the upper surface with long glandular hairs to capture and digest prey
Flowers: white to pink, 5-parted, 1/2" wide; inflorescence a linear cluster (cyme) of stalked flowers that bloom from the top down, the tip nodding until the flowers open; blooms June-Sept.
Fruits: light brown, shiny, long seeds
Habitat: wet; bogs, shallows, peaty ditches
Conservation Status: Native
