Leaves: opposite, mostly oblong with a pointed tip, finely toothed, margins ciliate
Flowers: yellow to reddish, 5-parted, 1/2"-3/4" long, funnel-shaped, almost regular, inside hairy, 5 stamens barely longer than the petals; inflorescence a 3-7-flowered, compound-branched cluster (cyme); blooms June-July

Habitat: dry; woods, forests, cliffs; in rocky soil
