Etymology: Daucus: an ancient Greek name
Plants: erect, biennial, 1'-5' tall forb; stout, white taproot with a carrot odor
Leaves: oblong, not clasping, feathery, repeatedly pinnately-divided into thin segments
Flowers: white, 5-parted; inflorescence a 2"-5" compound, flat, long-stalked, dense umbel often with 1 dark flower in the center; edge flowers enlarged and sometimes irregular; blooms June-Sept.
Fruits: dry, splitting into 2 seeds, - fruit:
