Etymology: Blephilia: Greek for "eyelash" referring to hairy fringe of the bracts and calyx-teeth
Plants: erect, perennial, 16"-32" tall, aromatic forb; stems square and hairy
Leaves: opposite, lance-shaped to widely ovate, stalked
Flowers: pale purple, 5-parted, 1/2" long, irregularly tube-shaped; flower drawing; inflorescence 1 3/4" tall rounded, densely-crowded whorls from the upper leaf axils often separated along the stem; blooms May-Aug.
Fruits: 1-seeded nutlet
Habitat: shade; moist; woods
