Marshes, ditches, mudflats, wet lawns and fields, low areas along railroads. This species is native to North America but considered introduced to Wisconsin. Our earliest collections were made in 1896 and 1897 in Bayfield and Douglas Cos., respectively. These may have represented native populations since this species’ native range includes Minnesota (but how far east is debatable). Since that time, it has been found at scattered localities across the northern portion of the state, especially in the northeast; it has also been collected as far south as Dane and Milwaukee Cos.
