the short, inwardly-curved horns shorter than the hoods; inflorescence a few-flowered, loose umbel (usually 1 terminal but occasionally with 1-2 from the sides); blooms June-July
Fruits: pods with many seeds on silky hairs
Habitat: dry; prairies; in rich, sandy soil
