Flowers: pink, 5-parted, 1/3"-1/2" long, throat with purple-spots and 2 yellow lines, 4 stamens with the lower ones longer; inflorescence a cluster (raceme) of stalked flowers from the leaf axils on the main stem; blooms Aug.-Sept.
Fruits: roundish, up to 1/5" long capsule with yellow-brown seeds
Habitat: dry; prairies, open woods, barrens; in sandy soil
