Key to Wisconsin Senna

    • 1a.Segments of the legume nearly square; petiolar glands broadest above the middle S. hebecarpa

    • 1b.Segments of the legume much shorter than broad; petiolar glands broadest at or below the middle S. marilandica

Senna obtusifolia (L.) Irwin & Barneby was collected from railroad ballast in 1989 in Pierce Co. It is native much farther south and seems unlikely to become established in the state. Both of our species are commonly planted far out of their respective ranges in prairie restorations and native plant gardens.
