Flowers: green, 5-parted, 1/8" wide, no petals; sepals rounded; inflorescence a dense, branched cluster (cyme); blooms June-Sept.
Fruits: capsule with 1 smooth, reddish-black seed
Habitat: sun; in sandy soil
