Habitat:
Top edge of SW-facing prairie bluff, over dolomite, with Rhus glabra at edge of thin woods of Quercus velutina, Betula papyrifera.
Occurrence Remarks:
Patch 6 m. long, to 1.2 m. tall, the stems to 1.4 cm. in diameter, to ca. 8 years old but difficult to count growth rings; no flowers or fruits at this time. Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw. Leaves whitened beneath.
