Habitat: Planted in row along edge of old ridgetop field (this now planted to prairie), and woods on edge. With Corylus americana, Picea glauca.
Occurrence Remarks: Shrub 2.5 m. tall, several stems in clump, to 3.1 cm. in diameter. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw. Twigs reddish bronze; pith tan.
