Habitat:
Swamp with Larix laricina, Picea mariana, P. glauca, Abies balsamea, Sphagnum, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Ledum groenlandicum, Betula pumila and the edge with Salix lucida, S. discolor, S. petiolaris and Alnus incana ssp. rugosa.
Occurrence Remarks:
Common in open area with dwarf Larix laricina. Shrubs to 1.1 m. tall, 0.8 cm. in diameter; growth rings hard to count but apparently to 6 years old. Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw. Green "cones" erect.
