Habitat:
Brushy old ridgetop field, somewhat prairie-like, becoming overgrown with Rhus glabra, rare Elaeagnus umbellata, Cornus racemosa.
Occurrence Remarks:
Shrub 2 m. tall, 1.7 cm. in diameter, forming thickets, the shrubs 1-2 m. tall, rarely to 2.5 m. tall. Voucher for wood speciemen, MADw. All past flowering but rarely a few flowers with white petals. Similar to but smaller than Cornus drummondii here (Nee 62996, 63002) which is less obviously clonal and is still flowering.
