Habitat: Large Sphagnum bog with Andromeda polifolia, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Kalmia polifolia, Ledum groenlandicum, Salix petiolaris, S. pyrifolia.
Occurrence Remarks: Shrubs 1.5 m. tall, 1.5 cm. in diameter, one stem 10 years old, few, scattered, in partial shade at edge. Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw. Insolated sides of petioles and twigs are red.
