Habitat: Open woods dominated by Quercus ellipsoidalis, with Quercus macrocarpa common also. Shrub layer of Coylus americana, and Acer rubrum and Quercus saplings. Ground layer includes Vaccinium angustifolium, along with scattered Pteridium aquilinum, Carex pensylvanica, and Lysimachia quadrifolia.
Occurrence Remarks: Large tree with trunk divided into two (ca. 0.25 and 0.3 m dbh) about 1 m. above ground. Sandy, dry-mesic loam. Locally common.
