Habitat:
Weedy dry prairie just below crest of treeless W-facing slope; Poa pratensis-1 dom., Bromus inermis-2 dom., with Achillea millefolium, Anemone cylindrica, Prunus serotina sprouts (from fire-killed saplings), Solidago speciosa, Symphyotrichum ericoides, & Trifolium pratense. Small branching dichanthelium (coll. No. 15778) with very small lvs & spklts embedded within base of same clump = D. praecocius "autumnal" phase (or a second sp.?).
Occurrence Remarks:
Clumps with 6 to 85 flring culms each. Abundant farther SW along ridge top.
