Habitat: Wooded lowland at base of stairs at base of cliff of fractured blocky limestone (Niagara Dolomite), northern wet-mesic forest of Thuja occidentalis (1 dom.)-Betula alleghaniensis (2 dom.). Assoc. for Menispermum: woody understory with Acer spicatum & Sambucus racemosa subsp. pubens, ground layer with Cystopteris bulbifera, Maianthemum racemosum, Circaea alpina, C. lutetina subsp. canadensis, & Hackelia deflexa.
