Habitat:
Area of slightly higher & drier, northern dry-mesic forest (canopy of Acer rubrum-Quercus spp., lower canopy of Pinus strobus) on shaded, weakly acidic ground with low peaty hummocks, embedded within extensive conifer-hardwood swamp (Pinus strobus-Acer rubrum). Assoc.: Carex pensylvanica, Eurybia macrophylla (rare), Gaylussacia baccata, Gaultheria procumbens, Lycopodium obscurum, Monotropa uniflora, Osmunda cinnamomea, Schizachne purpurascens, Trientalis borealis, & seedlings of Acer rubrum, Hamamelis virginiana, & Quercus macrocarpa.
Occurrence Remarks:
Rare, local. Two small patches, one of seven, the other of 12 rosettes nestled alongside rotting logs.
