Habitat: Fringe of trees and shrubs, Populus tremuloides, Picea glauca, Pteridium aquilinum, Salix spp., Prunus pensylvanica, Cornus alternifolia. Level, open areas maintained in early stage of regeneration of Populus tremuloides for sharp-tail grouse habitat, edge of extensive Sphagnum bog.
Occurrence Remarks: Shrubs 2.5 m. tall 1.8 cm. in diameter, 6 years old, forming a clump or clumps of slender stems together in a patch, low wet area with Spiraea alba. Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw. Twigs yellow, not brittle at the base.
