Habitat: Gentle slope, neither dry nor marshy, with Spartina pectinata, Agropyron repens, Bromus inermis, Centaurea stoebe, Monarda fitulosa, Verbascum thapsus, Thalictrum dasycarpum.
Occurrence Remarks: Colony or population of several dozen clumps, to 1.5 m. tall. Old stems from the previous year present. I had not previously noticed this species here despite passing by many hundreds of times since the 1960s. Flowers odorless; sepals yellow-green with yellow margin; petals yellow; anthers very dark brown, nearly black; style yellow-green.
