Habitat:
Edge of severely degraded prairie remnant, 6 to 9 yds. in from road right-of-way, immersed in sward of Bromus inermis with some Poa pratensis, a few culms each of Dactylis glomerata, Phleum pratense, & Carex muehlenbergii, & Cornus racemosa, nothing else.
Occurrence Remarks:
Seven very loose clumps very near one another, of 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, & 12 culms - or one 50-stemmed patch. Seen only in this spot, as if blown in from farther west and reaching toward its natural prairie habitat.
