Habitat:
Extensive marsh of Typha, Sparganium with scattered Alnus incana ssp. rugosa, and patches of Larix laricina surrounded by Toxicodendron vernix, but without Sphagnum or Ericaceae. Floodplain of river but mostly isolated from influx of silt during floods.
Occurrence Remarks:
Shrub 3 m. tall, 3 cm. in diameter, ca. 15 years old; fresh sap pale orange, turning tarry black; undoubtedly this is the collection that gave me a severe "poison ivy" rash. Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw. Petiole and leaf rachis red. Inflorescence nodding; fruit yellow-green.
