Locality: United States, Wisconsin, Dane, Parrish Oak Savanna (TPE-owned, 29-acre SNA), NW corner of jct. CTH “F” & Moyer Rd., 2 mi. by rd. N of Brigham County Park, 2.5–2.6 mi. (airline distance) NNE of Village of Blue Mounds.

Habitat: Opening (more sun than shade) in Quercus velutina-Q. macrocarpa savanna at base of fairly steep, S-facing, sandy slope with occasional sandstone ledges & boulders, S end of N-S-lying bluff of St. Peter sandstone capped by thin layer of Platteville dolomite. Assoc. with Helianthus strumosus, Prenanthes alba, Rhus glabra, & Solidago ulmifolia.
Occurrence Remarks: Lvs. wing-petioled; rays bright powder-blue. Herbage as well as infl., heads, & rays appearing "heavy," not elegant as in S. cordifolium.
