Habitat: Watery track through Acer rubrum-Pinus strobus swamp, Carex lacustris locally dominant, with abundant mosses (incl. Sphagnum), ferns (incl. Onoclea), & sedges (Carex debilis, C. deflexa, C. echinata, C. grayi, C. lacustris, C. stricta), Alnus incana subsp. rugosa, Aronia melanocarpa, Ilex verticillata, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Rubus hispidus (exceedingly abundant), Scutellaria lateriflora, Symplocarpus foetidus, & Spiraea tomentosa. Slightly uneven (hummocky), springy peaty ground with wet depressions, drainage ways, & streamlets.
Occurrence Remarks: Canes erect, less than l m tall. Immediately assoc. with Dryopteris carthusiana, Rubus hispidus, & Trientalis borealis. Occasional. (Sheet 2 of 2 sheets)
