Habitat:
Bottom of 5 meter high slope from dry sand plain down to floodplain of Wisconsin River. With Quercus velutina, Carya cordiformis, Ulmus americana, Quercus bicolor, Fraxinus pennsylvanica var. subintegerrima, Tilia americana, Celtis occidentalis, Platanus occidentalis (!), and with an understory of Zanthoxylum americanum.
Occurrence Remarks:
Sapling 5 m. tall. Terminal bud very dark brown, nearly black.
