Habitat: Patch of woods which grew up in fencerow and abandoned corner of field, on gentle SE-facing slope of small valley, without stream, surrounded by cultivated fields. With Carya ovata, Juglans nigra, Celtis occidentalis, Ulmus americana, one U. pumila.
Occurrence Remarks: Tree 17 m. tall, 40 cm. in diameter. Voucher for wood speciemen, MADw. The herbarium specimens from the upper canopy; fruit abundant, immature, green with wine-red on insolated side.
