United States, Wisconsin, Crawford, 2.5 km. NW of center of Boscobel, DNR parking are for public hunting area on the NW side of Hwy 60; above the floodplain of the Wisconsin River on the SE side fo the highway
43° 8' 41" N, 90° 44' 2" W; T08N R03W sec28 NW4NE4;
Damp area but above the floodplain of the river, with large stand of Salix interior, with S. amygdaloides and Populus deltoides.
About 10 m. tall, the largest stem 6 cm. in diameter, 8 years old, from center of a large and expanding patch (clone?). Voucher for wood specimen, MADw. Leaves green above, slightly lighter but scarcely glaucous beneath. Twigs red, the very short petioles yellow-green. No flowers or fruits at this time of year.
