Habitat: Slightly rolling, dry, very sandy, thin stand of Pinus banksiana, Quercus velutina, Acer rubrum, Betula nigra (!), Juniperus virginiana.
Occurrence Remarks: Young tree, 8 cm in diameter. Crushed twigs with little odor. Pistillate (no staminate inflorescences seen anywhere in crown); inflorescence red.
