Habitat:
Floodplain of river, with Zanthoxylum americanum, Prunus virginiana, V. serotina, and scattered large old Quercus macrocarpa.
Occurrence Remarks:
Several arching stems branching from a larger base, 4.5 m tall, the largest stems 8.5 cm in diameter, crown densely twiggy. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw. Bark pale than, longitudinally finely furrowed and somewhat stringy. Corolla white, fading a very pale dull yellow, the falling flowers a much darker dull yellow. Abundant here and with other individuals all along the spectrum from white (fading yellow, i.e. L. morrowii) to deep pink (not fading yellow, i.e. L. tatarica).
