Habitat:
Flat bottom of wide river valley, at or just above upper part of floodplain, along old railroad grade, now a hiking/biking trail, edges of cultivated fields and woods of Ulmus americana, Acer negundo, A. saccharinum, with Rubus occidentalis, Polemonium reptans.
Occurrence Remarks:
Shrubs 3 m tall, with 5 main stems, branching from the base, the largest stems 8 cm in diameter, 8 years old, with dense arching crown, edge of marshy area. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw. Bark with fine longitudinal furrowing, and somewhat stringy. Corolla pink in bud, nearly white in anthesis, fading to pale dull yellow. Abundant here and with other indiviudals alla long the spectrum from white and fading yellow (i.e. L. morrowii) to deep ink and not fading yellow (i.e. L. tatarica).
