Habitat:
At base of bluff. Xeric sand prairie with sand blows on former crop land, dominated by short grasses (especially Schizachyrium scoparium, with Eragrostis spectabilis, Koeleria pyramidata, Poa compressa, P. pratensis)mixed with some weeds (native and introduced, including Conyza canadensis, Erigeron strigosus, Hypericum perforatum, Mollugo verticillata, Rumex acetosella) and a variety of herbs (Asclepias verticillata, Aster sericeus, Baptisia bracteata var. glaberescens, Lithospermum carolinense var. croceum, Opuntia humifusa, Physalis heterophylla, Plantago patagonica, Tephrosia virginiana, etc). Deep sand of upper river terrace, the sand originally deposited by outwash waters from melting glaciers and part of a terrace system up to 30m above the modern level of the river.
