Habitat:
Large area owned by Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, above the Kickapoo River floodplain. Large fallow field, formerly in farm crops but apparently not planted to prairie since abandoned several years ago. Complete visual dominance now by Erigeron annuus (no. 62322), with much Rudbeckia hirta, thin stand of Bromus inermis, Poa pratensis, Agropyron repens.
Occurrence Remarks:
Abundant and overwhelmingly dominant visually at this time. Rays white but close up the younger ones are very faint pink, but after picking the rays begin to turn blue; disc yellow.
