Habitat: Forming a nearly continuous population between the bare crushed limestone gravel near the edge of the pavement, to the green grassy dense sward of Agropyron repens, Bromus inermis. With scattered dwarfed plants of Ambrosia artemisiifolia, Seteria viridis.
Occurrence Remarks: Plants a characteristic orange-coppery color, but don't appear fertile as the spikelets are concealed within the upper sheaths.
