Locality: United States, Wisconsin, Richland, 1.5 km WNW of center of Lone Rock, Smith Slough and Sand Prairie State Natural Area.

Habitat: Sandy, disturbed area, a road used when Pinus was cut and removed for lumber from the adjacent plantation a year or two ago, just E of the parking area. With Leptoloma cognatum, Centaurea stoebe, Krigia virginica, Linaria canadensis.
Occurrence Remarks: Large patch, all in full bloom, and blooming earlier than other species of the genus in the county. Flowers bright yellow.
