Habitat: Young woods, on E-facing slope, with Carya cordiformis, Tilia americana, Fraxinus americana, Ostrya virginiana, with Podophyllum peltatum.
Occurrence Remarks: Treelet 7 m tall, 5.7 cm in diameter, with single trunk, seems senescent; branches thorny. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw. Flowers just past peak flowering, the filaments pink or white (different stages of development?).
