Habitat:
Young woods of Prunus serotina, Carya cordiformis, Celtis occidentalis, base of S-facing Wisconsin River bluff.
Occurrence Remarks:
Vine tightly appressed to a tree trunk by a fuzzy mass of adventious roots, the stem 6 cm in diameter; sap immediately oxidizing black and eventually forming a tarry ring around the periphery. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw. Leafy branches slender, to 2.5 m long, spreading horizontally. Leaves beginning to turn red-orange. Fruit pale yellow, turning white.
