Edge of floodplain forest of Wisconsin River, with Acer saccharinum, Quercus bicolor, Betula nigra, and access road of crushed dolomite gravel. Narrow zone between the bare gravel and the denser weedy vegetation. Here all individuals can extend fully and without direct competition. Only Eleusine indica, Cyperus and Eragrostis pectinacea.
Scattered, but not just a casual one or two plants, apparently adapted to this unusual habitat and undoubtedly also found in its usual and natural habitat on late-summer exposed sandbars in the nearby Wisconsin River.
