Habitat:
Floodplain of river, along bike trail, formerly a railroad line, with Salix nigra, Acer saccharinum, Quercus ellipsoidalis, Q. macrocarpa.
Occurrence Remarks:
Tree, 14 m tall, 15 cm in diameter; bark smooth. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw, the wood from an adjacent tree of this species which fell a month ago and the wood specimen cut from it, which is rare here and only in this one small colony. Any branches soon dying after becoming shaded, finely twiggy; only unshaded upper branches with flowers; flowers lightly fragrant (4:30 P.M., sunny), nearing end of flowering period.
