Habitat:
Floodplains of river, just below the old railroad tracks (now a hiking trail).
Occurrence Remarks:
Edge of perennial marsh with Scirpus cyperinus, now almost all Phalaris arundinacea. Young woods, with Betula papyrifera, Quercus ellipsoidalis, Acer saccharinum. Young tree 15 m tall, 15 cm in diameter; bark in lowermost trunk furrowed, the rest of trunk and branches smooth, nearly white. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw. Staminate.
