Habitat:
Fencerow between cultivated fields, flat, broad valley of river, but just above the floodplain, unshaded, with Corylus americana, Phalaris arundinacea, Sambucus canadensis, Ambrosia trifida and saplings of Acer saccharinum, Quercus macrocarpa, and Prunus virginiana.
Occurrence Remarks:
Patch (undoubtedly a clone) of many stems to 3 m tall and 3.3 cm in diameter, mostly smaller. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw. Along 6 m of fencerow. A similar patch (undoubtedly also a clone) of staminate plants nearby.
