Habitat: Located at crest of hill; overstory consists of entirely of black walnuts < 6 inches DGH Landowner remembers when it used to be a "grassy area." Understory dominated by Viola striata, Allaria petiolata, Polygonum virginianum, and Hesperis matronalis. Lonicera common in shrub layer. One small patch of 10 stems of Trillium recurvatum also in vicinity.
Occurrence Remarks: Large population in full bloom, estimated at several hundred if not >1000 plants. n talking to the landowner she said she has lived in the house since 1990 and her husband has lived there since the 1960s. She says they did not plant/seed the Viola or Trillium nor know that either was present.
